Check out these awesome cycling videos

I’ve been an avid cyclist pretty much all of my life. For nearly a decade I went without owning a car, where my bike was my main mode of transportation, along with buses and feet. Over these past few decades in suburbia, I’ve lost some of my advidness. But this is still my soul. Now, good ol’ YouTube has detected this and started feeding me videos to get my love re-ignited.

Though I’ve been been a fixie/fix-gear rider, I am enthralled with those who ride ’em. And especially those who ride them in cities. Bold! With “fixie mulhouse – my legs are my gear”, I enjoy watching them ride through the city. I also wish I had a group of rider friends back in those days for me.

This one is a blast. Reminds me of the days when any potential girlfriend needed to love cycling as much as me. (I’m fortunate that this description fits my wife)

Now, though most of my cycling is urban, I have a lot of experience mountain biking. I’ve long admired trials riders like Hans Rey and Danny Macaskill, who blows my mind. His talent, balance, and skill are, simply, amazing. I’m proud that I can do a track stand.

Lastly, I have been adding things to my cycling playlist on YouTube. Give it a look!

Thoughts on a YouTube Cyberpunk Documentary

I’ve long enjoyed the cyberpunk genre. Stumbling upon this video was rather fortuitous. I appreciated diving deeper into cyberpunk’s history and seeing the way different media influenced its growth. One thing I took away: cyberpunk was the first genre where video games were a key part of its evolution.

Below is a playlist of a video series: The Origins of Cyberpunk. I hope you find it as fun as I did.

Another YouTuber Exploring Seattle

Traveling Robert, a YouTuber out of Miami. He and his RV have made their way throughout much of North America. In this video, he’s in Seattle. I love finding videos of folks discovering Seattle and hearing their insights.

Robert’s pretty positive about my favorite city, so I’m pleased with his recap. Give him a watch!

YouTube Video I Reccomend: “Hey Tim – The Story Of My Life”

A friend of mine shared this video with me today. Just. Wow! First the artistry of the film shines brilliantly. The story, though, carries it to great heights.

So, clearly, I recommend it. Check it out, then let me know what you think. I hope you love it as much as I.

Watch “Robin Williams on Carson w/ Jonathan Winters 1991” on YouTube

I’ve been fighting a sinus infection for most of the past week. At one point I turned on YouTube, then fell asleep for I-don’t-know-how-long. I woke to see this video going. Memories of seeing Robin Williams filled me with joy, amongst other feelings. So much joy and laughter, balanced against so much sadness and pain. No other person made me laugh harder than Robin. Which makes the fact he took his own life so much more heartbreaking.

I’d never seen this combo of Williams and Jonathan Winters on the old Tonight Show. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas Muppet Style

I’ve long delighted in the Muppets, so felt this little ditty would be a grand way to express my appreciation for all of you this holiday season.

I do hope your holiday season is delightful and filled with joy. And that 2020 is shaping up to be a fantastic year, filled growth and success.

Local Musician: Sydney Day

In my non-ceasing efforts to discover and promote local musicians, here a cover of Pink’s “What About Us?” done by local artist Sydney Day. She’s most active on Facebook. Give her a listen on all her channels. It’s well worth your time.

And here’s her Soundcloud account. It’s been a bit since she’s posted here, but I enjoyed what’s here.

Some Music I Found On YouTube

I’ve been exploring music on YouTube for years. I’ve found the YouTube Music feature pretty lackluster, but that’s probably mostly due to my eclectic musical tastes and interests.

Lately, I’ve been obsessing about a couple musical things. First, the Hang Drum. Imagine a steel drum that’s much more portable. I find them rather ethereal and lovely. I particularly like the video below. The music is delightful, and the imagery stunning. My favorite combo on the platform. Here’s a playlist I’ve started, and will add to as I go forward.

Another recent musical obsession: these long playing live streams. I’ve been bopping in and out of the one below for months…maybe years. I wonder if this is an element of the future? What do you think?

Watch “VANLIFE as a SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER” on YouTube

Alex is from Leavenworth, and worked at REI, so we most likely have some common friends. I adore Penny, her VW Eurovan, and she’s got the coolest dog.

Yeah, I dig vanlife. I don’t really want to LIVE it. I’d like a small van for weekend touring, but I have no desire or plans to drop everything and live solely out of a van. Now, doing something like that in Hawaii would be cool….and maybe I’d could get a trailer for the Lexus.

Anyway, check out Alex’s blog and Instagram pages.
