As you’ll see below (from the good folks at the city of Lynnwood), PUD will be maintaining the trees along the trail. The trail will remain open, but there might be delays.

I just discovered Nerd Faire, a new Northwest Con. Located at the Lynnwood Convention Center, this will be very convenient to me. Their first con ever was this past March. Next year (2020) will be on February 1st. You can get tickets at Eventbrite.

Overnight rolling slowdowns on I-5 in Seattle, Aug. 27 and 28
Overhead power line work for Sound Transit Lynnwood Link Extension will cause overnight delays on I-5 between Seattle and Lynnwood
SEATTLE – Seattle City Light crews plan to relocate existing overhead power lines over Interstate 5 near Northeast 180th Street to support Sound Transit’s Lynnwood Link Extension project. This work will result in traffic impacts on Aug. 27-29.
To complete this work safely, Washington State Patrol troopers and contracted crews must intermittently conduct rolling slowdowns of traffic in both directions of I-5 to ensure safe work operations and passage for motorists. Traffic will be intercepted and escorted at slow speeds for up to 15 minutes between Lynnwood and north Seattle as crews pull overhead feeder cables across the highway. Traffic will return to normal speeds once past the work area.

The city of Lynnwood is hosting these free, family friendly movies at Lynndale Park. The movies start at dusk.
Bring your own blankets and chairs. Oh, and the “Snack Shack” will be open for dinner and snacks.

Hey Lynnwood & Edmonds area friends, a new local youth theater group, Bigfoot Players, is putting on Midsummer’s Night’s Dream this weekend. I have been helping them form the organization and been privy to all their hard work to bring this to life. I’m proud of all their hard work and passion bringing this together.

First, a reminder that for most of the region fireworks have been banished. Lynnwood, Mukilteo, Brier, Edmonds, Gold Bar, Marysville, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace and Woodway all have ordinances prohibiting them. For more details Snohomish County has created this guide for fireworks.
So, legal fireworks. You know, the professional shows! Well, there are many options around the region. The Washington State Patrol has this great list of options throughout the state. And, of course, there are parades and other events. I’ll highlight just few around here.
First, Mountlake Terrace has a fireworks show tonight, July 3, on Lake Ballinger.
As for tomorrow, the actual Fourth, I’ll be in Edmonds, so I’ll start with their festivities. This is the main thing for South Snohomish County around Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.

Just out the south entrance to Meadowdale high school sits this dilapidated truck. I walk by this spot regularly and it wasn’t there last time. It couldn’t have more than two weeks since my last visit.
Oh, its important to note that there’s a locked gate between this area and the street. I have no idea how the truck got there or why. Was it abandoned? Some kind of joke? Eh, who knows?

Come to the clerks’ office at the station on the corner of 44th Ave. W and 194th (Veterans Way); we’re open from 8 am to 5 pm daily. When you’re there you’ll fill out some brief information for your house check and we will take care of the rest. 2. Download and complete the application located on the Lynnwood Police Department’s website, then return it by email to LWellington@LynnwoodWA.gov, drop it off at the clerks’ office or return by mail to the Police Department. The Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) check on all houses in the city limits of Lynnwood registered for vacation house checks. The VIPS are trained on the police radio to call an officer if they hear or see anything suspicious. Our dinner plans this evening include going to Edmonds’ El Puerto. They’ve been a part of our lives for over a decade. And, now, the restaurant is at the end. The owners plan to retire after this weekend. We can hope it’s an April Fools prank, but I doubt it’ll do any good.
Anyway, the place was packed and we decided to head up the hill and half-block to another favorite eatery: Taki Tiki.
I had a BBQ Burger Dip; very yummy! My wife had the mahi mahi fish tacos and was quite happy. We’ve eaten there many times over the years, and tried many of their options. I’ve never been disappointed.
This got me thinking. I think it would be fun to explore different burger places in the region. In south Snohomish County, I’ve eaten at, besides Taki Tiki, Red Onion in Mountlake Terrace, Dick’s, Blazing Onion at Alderwood Mall, Hop Jack’s in Lynnwood (and up in Smokey Pointe), and Hamburger Harry’s (Edmonds). Heading north theres Bob’s Burgers and Brews, and also Ray’s in Everett, Marysville’s AJ’s, Burger Mill, Zeke’s in Gold Bat, Nutty’s Junkyard Grill in Arlington…these are what comes rolling out readily. I’m sure I’d think of others if I gave it time. This is just Snohomish County.
And I already have a bit of a list of places I want to try.

I wanted to go last weekend, but events conspired against me. Now’s a whole new opportunity, and I expect to make it work.
Now, my main question: do I go to Alderwood AMC, with all its Dolby glory, or head to the Edmonds theater, my favorite?
