I must confess that I’ve never been on the Underground Tour in Pioneer Square. It’s on my proverbial “bucket list”, but what that’s worth. Simon Whistler put together a great video explaining Seattle’s Underground. It is a quirky history, to be sure.

It’s upon us, the end of October and all the Halloween fun for the kids! Here’s my collection of fun, family events for the south Snohomish County region.

Apparently this is the Top Chocolate festival in North America (is there a more impressive one in Europe? Or South America? But I digress…). More importantly (to me at least) it’s the largest gathering of chocolatiers in the world. As someone who adores chocolate, I find this compelling and more than a little bit interesting.
The event will be November 9 & 10 on Pier 91 in Seattle. Tickets for the full weekend are currently $50, with single day options at $25. There’s also a VIP pass that looks like a blast at $95. These prices are for right now, and will go up closer to the event.

I just found these two events that are happening tomorrow in Marysville and Everett respectively.
The Port of Everett is hosting the Holiday By The Bay. Check out the flyer below for details.
The City of Marysville will be hosting their annual Christmas Parade tomorrow evening starting at 5:00 pm. It’s along State ave, which will be blocked off starting at 4th street. So, find a place to park as close to Comeford Park as you can.
Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, we can consider the holidays fully upon us. Warm 106.9 is fully on Christmas Music mode (24/7 through Christmas Day). Edmonds lead the way last weekend with their Tree Lighting. However, we’re far from done with the holiday fun. Here’s what’s coming up in the next few days.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving has held a family tradition for us over nearly 2 decades: The Christmas Tree lighting. The tree in question, which is a live tree that lives in the spot year round, is located near a spot we often park. Whenever we’re describing the spot, we don’t call it “the Veteran’s Park”, not “by City Hall”, nor “next to the police station”, nor “where the farmer’s market is”. No, my friends, we’re “parked by the Christmas Tree”. A landmark for the whole year. And we’ll be there, yet again, in a little over an hour.

Quiet Heart Wilderness School’s beloved Hawkeye ready to say farewell
Funny that I don’t recall ever meeting “Hawkeye” in my journeys about Edmonds. I feel a bit lesser as I read about him in this article.
This local school and daycare program is a unique enterprise, and one I’m glad will continue under competent hands. Hands that share its creator’s vision.
I’ve been involved with this choir for about two years now. My son sings with them and I’ve known the director for years. I think very highly of them and couldn’t recommend them more.

Well, it was pretty hot today. A real scorcher by Seattle standards. The temperature above was in Marysville, taken right after I got in.
I’m not the biggest fan of heat, but it doesn’t bother me like some folks. I remember getting off the plane. In Orlando. In August. The wave of heat and humidity was invigorating. Weird, I know. But it brought up memories of the Philippines. A wonderful period in my life. That was many decades hence. Yet it’s still in my heart.
Where I hate heat: when I’m trying to sleep. I love feeling cool. No logic. Just is. Thank goodness for fans.
Now the layer of grimy duat covering my cars each morning irritates my sinuses. That’s been adding an element of misery. Fortunately, my allergy meds work mitigates my misery. V_
Clearly, spring has sprung.
And, in classic Seattle, Charlie Brown-esque luck, after one last nice, albeit cooler, day, we launch into another dripfest weekend. Oh, we hapless Seattleites and our penchant for indoor weekend fun…or rain gear. We’ll need to utilize one, or both, this coming one.
