It’s official: Edmonds IGA Market will open in former Petosa’s space May 15 | My Edmonds News

From MyEdmondsNews

I used to live close to the old Petosa’s in downtown Edmonds. Having a grocer a short walk away was glorious. And we were amongst those saddened when Petosa’s closed its doors. The building owners have done well, though, finding a new tenant with the same commitment and vision. I expect they’ll be a welcome neighbor.

Welcome to Edmonds, IGA!

City of Mountlake Terrace Seeking Management Bids

Terrace’s struggles with their cute municipal golf course may have come to an end as they get ready to change the space into parkland. I have fond memories of learning the game here, and really like the space. They intend to continue utilizing the clubhouse. And here’s an interesting opportunity, business-wise. The City is looking for someone to manage the space. To be clear they’re looking for a company to take on a contract, and not a city employee role. Anyway, if you have the capacity, you have until COB May 3 to submit your bid.

Another Blunt Conversation About Budgets

Dave Earling, Mayor of Edmonds, wrote a good guest post over at My Edmonds News. It’s good for governmental leaders to talk, frankly, about government services and what they cost. It’s a start of a series. Other leaders will write about their departments work and what it costs to fund it. Should be a good series to help understand how small government works.

Weekend

Easter weekend rarely comes with such copious amounts of sun. Spent a fair amount of time outdoors, as folks from west of the cascades are want to do.

Easter itself had us driving to Bellingham. Didn’t get to hit Tony’s Coffee or Village Books. Still a good trip, though traffic bogged down though Everett to Marysville. Well, pretty much up into Arlington. Holiday weekends feature that, though.

Hope everyone had a safe journey through the gorgeous weekend.

Added To My Must See List: Living Computer Museum

Just stumbled across this via the Billings Gazette, of all things. They have a great overview of the place so no need for me to recreate their work. Give them a peek.

This, definitely, must be on my 2013 tour list. I guess the biggest question is whether I’ll force my family to come along. Since it’s really not geek centric, perhaps they’ll enjoy it, too.

Perhaps..

What if money was no object?

Answering this question seems easy, however it’s proven a deep challenge for me. Too much of my life has been paralyzed by the “need” to earn money. The roots of this, I’m certain, is fear. My challenge, and perhaps yours, too, is to defeat that fear. Only then are we truly alive.

Western Washington Snow Day

20130323-094156.jpg

The picture above was taken yesterday of my backyard. I certainly wasn’t expecting snow, much less any accumulation. Parts of the county, including my son’s school district, actually felt the need to delay school.

Odd, really, considering the past few years, that we finally had a snow day after the official start of spring. Another example of the wacky weather this region received due to the convergence zone. Our geography provides for particularly odd weather patterns.

I, for one, when I’m not frustrated by it, find it lovely.
